About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Specialist to join our team at Bird Construction Group. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for the full cycle recruitment of craft positions, ensuring project sites are staffed efficiently and effectively with qualified employees. Your primary focus will be on creating an exceptional candidate experience while working closely with our field management teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct full cycle recruitment of craft positions, including sourcing qualified candidates, developing job postings, reviewing resumes, and conducting interviews.
  • Participate in the hiring of temporary foreign employees, including the LMIA process, and assist with settlement arrangements as needed.
  • Provide a positive employee experience by assisting new hires with the onboarding process, including new hire paperwork, online training, and orientations.
  • Coordinate travel for employees, source and arrange accommodations as required.
  • Complete and organize Project Site Orientations for new hires, which may include safety orientation.
  • Conduct verification of required certifications and licenses.
  • Issue letters of hours and employment, when required for employee banking, and trade certifications.
  • Coordinate applicable training and notify individuals of pertinent details and requirements.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years' experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in a construction, industrial maintenance, or similar organization.
  • Experience working in a high-paced, onboarding environment for skilled trades and labor positions.
  • Familiarity with the dynamics, operations, processes, and organizational interdependencies of construction and industrial services.
  • Knowledge of sourcing, selection, and staffing strategies, programs, vendors, and tools.
  • Understanding of workforce-related federal and provincial employment laws and regulations.
  • A proven track record of successful hiring and retention.
  • Familiarity with international recruitment and the LMIA process.
  • Ability to forge, grow, and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritize work to achieve them.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Superior customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
