Position Overview
We are currently seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to join our community, specializing in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Long-Term care. This role is pivotal in providing therapeutic support and guidance to our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight to the Rehabilitation Assistant.
- Engage in the Musculo Skeletal Injury Prevention Program by reviewing incident reports and contributing to risk management strategies.
- Design and deliver training sessions focused on injury prevention for staff and residents.
- Model safe transfer and lifting techniques while assisting team members.
- Support team members returning to work after injuries as needed.
- Advocate for ergonomic practices in both work and living environments.
- Continuously assess and monitor the performance of the Rehabilitation Assistant.
- Evaluate resident mobility needs and recommend appropriate equipment.
- Implement therapeutic programs tailored to resident needs.
- Encourage residents and staff to utilize professional services and community resources.
- Empower residents to make informed choices regarding their care and risk management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master's degree in Occupational Therapy with 3-5 years of experience in senior care, or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in innovative approaches to gerontological rehabilitation.
- Current registration with a governing body in British Columbia.
