Custodian Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at School District No. 50 (Haida Gwaii). As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, security, and energy conservation of our buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors
  • Perform janitorial duties, including cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking supplies
  • Operate janitorial equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and mops
  • Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to achieve common goals

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 level of education
  • Previous training and/or experience in janitorial procedures
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and safety warnings
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, pushing, and bending

Working Conditions:

The Custodian will work primarily indoors, but may be required to go outside to perform tasks. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing circumstances.
