The Corporate Accounting and Financial Analyst will play a vital role in documenting and evaluating accounting transactions for PSP Investments and its subsidiaries. This position involves active participation in monthly and quarterly accounting processes, as well as the preparation of consolidated financial statements for PSP and its four pension sponsors, adhering to IFRS standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Corporate Accounting and Financial Analyst , your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging in month-end closing activities. This includes preparing journal entries along with all necessary documentation and bank reconciliations, as well as conducting month-end analyses.
  • Assisting in quarter-end closing processes. This entails contributing to the production of comprehensive consolidated quarterly financial statements (including notes) for PSPIB and its four pension plans, in both official languages.
  • Participating in year-end closing tasks. This involves generating annual consolidated financial statements (including notes) for PSPIB and its four plans, preparing schedules and work papers for the year-end audit of PSPIB, and collaborating with auditors during interim work.
  • Compiling monthly entries and financial statements for Capital PSP Inc., PSPIB Defined Benefit Pension Plan, and PSPIB Defined Contribution Pension Plan. Analyzing balance sheet accounts and generating ad hoc reports will also be part of your duties.
  • Undertaking additional related tasks, including engaging in process implementation, enhancements, and developing insightful reports.
  • Delivering required outputs beyond financial statements, including those arising from ad hoc requests.
  • Supporting responses to inquiries from internal or external auditors.
  • Assisting in addressing requests from other departments or services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • A professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, CGA, or CMA), or currently pursuing one, is preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Excel and capable of quickly mastering various computer systems; familiarity with Dynamics D365 is an asset.
  • A strong sense of responsibility and results-driven approach.
  • A solid work ethic and professional integrity.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated initiative and curiosity to explore beyond the obvious for thorough, factual, and value-added research.
  • Attention to detail and a meticulous approach to research, analysis, and documentation.
  • Capability to work collaboratively in a team and foster productive relationships with colleagues and clients.
