Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Winter Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our winter maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing road maintenance activities on provincial highways, responding to emergency situations, and assisting in implementing an emergency plan.
Key Responsibilities- Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways, including snow and ice control, salting, and sanding.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as spills and accidents, during inclement weather.
- Assist in implementing an emergency plan, providing traffic control at accident scenes as per the contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Make snow and ice control decisions during winter and initiate equipment and operator call-outs.
- Inspect patrols and create deficient lists for the Foreperson.
- Respond to public complaints and operate a variety of equipment.
- DZ license
- Experience in snow and ice control, along with knowledge of OTM Book 7
- Knowledge of highway maintenance
- Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events require
