Job Summary
We are seeking a Winter Maintenance Specialist to perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways, respond to emergency situations, and assist in implementing an emergency plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways, including snow and ice control, and respond to emergency situations such as spills and accidents.
- Assist in implementing an emergency plan, providing traffic control at accident scenes as per the contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service.
- Maintain and clean equipment, conducting routine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Make snow and ice control decisions during winter and initiate equipment and operator call outs.
- Inspect patrols and create deficient lists for the Foreperson.
- Respond to public complaints and operate a variety of equipment.
Requirements
- DZ license
- Experience in snow and ice control along with knowledge of OTM Book 7
- Knowledge of highway maintenance
- Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events require
