Job Title: Keyworker/Addictions Worker

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Keyworker/Addictions Worker to join our team at Behavioural Health Foundation. As a Keyworker/Addictions Worker, you will provide individual support to clients struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues through direct supervision and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individual and group counseling to clients, making referrals to clinical therapists as needed.
  2. Supervise clients in residential substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders treatment services, maintaining accurate records and files.
  3. Coordinate and facilitate educational workshops on mental health and substance use-related topics.
  4. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of crisis management and the impact of trauma on mental health and substance use issues.
  5. Attend and contribute to staff meetings and case discussions.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum Grade 12 diploma/degree in community support work, addictions, or a related field.
  2. Experience working in a residential treatment setting is an asset.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history, culture, practices, customs, and beliefs.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and supportive counseling skills.
  5. Experience working with at-risk and/or vulnerable populations.
  6. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  8. Conflict resolution skills.
  9. Organizational and planning skills with related decision-making abilities.

Conditions of Employment:

  1. Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check and child abuse registry check.
  2. A valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle and a satisfactory driver's abstract.
  3. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  4. Mental Health First Aid Certificate is considered an asset.
  5. Valid First Aid/CPR Certification is an asset.
  6. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and be reliable.
  8. Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations, and referrals.
