Position Overview:
Role: Specialist, Assistive Technology
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify the assistive technology needs of individuals with vision loss.
  • Prepare detailed assessment reports and recommendations tailored to each client's unique requirements.
  • Guide clients through the implementation of assistive technology solutions, including setup and training.
  • Engage in public speaking and educational activities to raise awareness about assistive technology.
  • Utilize electronic systems to document client goals and rehabilitation plans effectively.
Relationship Management:
  • Provide ongoing support and consultation to clients and their families regarding vision loss adjustment.
  • Foster relationships with community organizations, funding agencies, and educational institutions.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to enhance service delivery.
Problem Solving:
  • Deliver timely assessments to assist clients in selecting suitable assistive technology.
  • Resolve challenges creatively to meet the diverse needs of individuals.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with individuals across all age groups with vision impairments.
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology and its application in daily life.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
