Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to support our existing procurement team in managing the acquisition and delivery of electrical components for our hydroelectric projects. Our focus encompasses the design, production, and installation of turbines and generators, as well as heavy mechanical equipment essential for hydroelectric power plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and negotiate pricing with suppliers;
  • Issue and manage Purchase Orders, including revisions;
  • Enforce and negotiate commercial terms and conditions;
  • Monitor and expedite supplier deliveries;
  • Address supplier inquiries effectively;
  • Collaborate with project teams and engineers regarding project specifics (budgets, requisitions, specifications, delivery timelines, etc.);
  • Work closely with accounts payable to reconcile invoices;
  • Ensure suppliers have necessary documentation to proceed;
  • Verify quality documentation from suppliers;
  • Assist suppliers in validating packing lists;
  • Negotiate vendor claims and change orders as needed;
  • Coordinate with transport companies and customs brokers for order shipments;
  • Manage material returns to vendors;
  • Support urgent procurement needs in the field;
  • Prepare reports as required by management;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess strong motivation, a positive attitude, and a collaborative spirit. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities. Candidates should be results-oriented and committed to following through on tasks.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement or a combination of 1-2 years' experience with relevant certifications;
  • Familiarity with SAP purchasing software is advantageous;
  • Experience in purchasing electrical materials and components is preferred;
  • Solid understanding of commercial purchase terms and conditions;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently;
  • Proficient in researching suppliers and products online;
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal information;
  • Commitment to ethical and transparent procurement practices;
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities;
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of market trends and best purchasing practices;
  • Fluency in English and French is required.
