Role Overview:
The Automation Engineer is tasked with integrating hands-on troubleshooting expertise, programming capabilities, and a foundational understanding of the pulping process to enhance and sustain mill operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical or instrumentation within an industrial setting, along with familiarity in DCS, PLC, and networking systems. The responsibilities outlined below are not exhaustive and may be adjusted to include additional tasks as deemed necessary by management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Electrical & Instrumentation team with troubleshooting efforts.
  • Configure and program DCS and PLC systems.
  • Maintain and plan industrial network infrastructure.
  • Oversee control hardware obsolescence and implement upgrades.
  • Manage server, historian, and data visualization systems for maintenance and upgrades.
  • Tune and optimize process control systems.

Candidate Profile:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Essential Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Control Net, OPC, serial, ethernet, fibre optic).
  • A relevant trade, technologist, or engineering certification.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in industrial automation.
  • Experience with DeltaV, Schneider, and Allen Bradley systems.
