About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Worker to join our team at Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites Halifax. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our hotel and resort.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Industrial Equipment: Safely operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove debris and other refuse, and wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs.
  • Contractor Management: Contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment, and perform minor repairs on appliances.
  • Safety and Security: Perform safety and security checks, and perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens, and clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures.
  • Winter Maintenance: Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
Work Environment

As a Building Maintenance Worker, you will work in a fast-paced hotel and resort environment, with varying weather conditions and physically demanding tasks.

Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Physical Demands: Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Dependability, flexibility, judgement, organized, reliability.
