Carpenter Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance team, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various components of our buildings, including windows, doors, flooring, and roofing systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install, repair, and maintain windows, doors, wall tiles, floor tiles, handrails, paneling, molding, roofing, and ceiling systems.
- Modify existing workstations, cabinets, counters, and other custom millwork as required.
- Construct, demolish, fabricate, install, remove, or renovate components necessary for the day-to-day operation of Banff Centre.
- Construct and erect small outbuildings or sheds and other structures made of wood, wood substitutes, metal, or other building materials.
- Attend meetings and provide technical support by way of inspections, prepare estimates, and develop scopes of work for projects and renovations.
- Assist with purchasing tasks in accordance with established procedures and order materials and equipment as needed.
- Completion of Journeyman carpenter certification.
- At least 5 years of carpentry and building maintenance work experience.
- Experience with inventory management and sourcing and ordering parts.
- Knowledge of the Alberta building codes.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Demonstrated track record of effective problem-solving.
- Strong team player.
- Physically fit and capable of working in physically demanding work environments, including confined spaces, high temperatures, and loud noises.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Class "5" Alberta driver's license.
- This position may require working weekends, nights, holidays, or extended hours, especially during the winter months.
- This position involves lifting, pulling, bending, and managing heavy equipment and objects.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and be prepared for extreme heat and cold.
- This is a unionized, permanent, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6-month probationary period.
- Annual salary of $78,000 per year, working 37.5 hours per week.
