About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Paving Operator to join our team at McNally Contractors. As a Paving Operator, you will be responsible for operating paving machines that lay asphalt and concrete for roads, parking lots, and other surfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a paver and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
  • Preheat a paving screed before placement of asphalt, monitor and control temperature settings of the asphalt mixture.
  • Line pavers appropriately to the work area, and ensure proper application of the asphalt, smoothing it evenly to the desired height, width, and depth.
  • Attach extensions to screed, to adjust width.
  • Regulate temperature of asphalt flowing from hopper.

About You:

We are looking for a candidate with a high school diploma or equivalent, and experience in related construction activities. A Class 5 license and clean abstract are also required. You should have a proficient understanding of asphalt and raking techniques, as well as knowledge of paving construction methods, asphalt and road construction materials, heavy equipment operation, and industry requirements.

Working Environment:

  • Out-of-town travel may be required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 20 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
