Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to become a vital member of our TCX Cloud Operations team.

This role involves hands-on technical responsibilities while overseeing the daily management of a private cloud infrastructure based on OpenStack.

This position is available remotely for candidates located in Canada and the United States.

Key Responsibilities:
  • OpenStack Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and management of all hardware and software components within the OpenStack environment.
  • Network Storage Management: Manage the installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of network storage systems.
  • Auxiliary Systems: Handle the installation, configuration, maintenance, and management of additional cloud support systems and micro-cloud environments.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the Cloud team to develop and enhance internal tools and APIs.
  • Innovation: Research and implement new technologies to boost operational efficiency.
  • Documentation: Create thorough documentation covering configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Standardization: Work collaboratively to uphold deployment standards and infrastructure tools, driving optimization across all operations.
  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in the on-call rotation for Cloud Operations.
Qualifications:
  • A university degree or IT diploma from a recognized institution, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years of professional experience as a senior Cloud Systems Engineer, with at least 3 years managing OpenStack-based clouds.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Ceph storage systems.
  • At least 3 years of proficiency in Python programming and shell scripting.
  • Experience in managing cloud infrastructure is preferred.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • System Migration: Assist in migrating production systems to a new architecture, utilizing the latest DevOps methodologies and tools.
  • Automation Frameworks: Work with SaltStack, Terraform, Ansible, and Python-based automation frameworks, with the capability to extend these frameworks with new modules.
  • Administration: Administer OpenStack, Proxmox, Ceph Storage, and GitHub.
  • Troubleshooting: Exhibit strong troubleshooting skills in systems administration.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Communication: Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrate a keen eye for detail and thoroughness in all tasks.
  • Adaptability: Show the ability to quickly learn and understand new technologies.

The salary range for this position is $140,500 to $158,100 USD for US residents or $121,800 to $137,000 CAD for Canadian residents. Compensation may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and qualifications. Tucows is committed to offering fair compensation and generous benefits.
