I. Job Overview
Responsible for the safe operation of a heavy-duty truck while performing assigned duties on swing routes.

II. Key Responsibilities
To succeed in this role, an individual must effectively carry out each essential duty. Additional minor tasks may be assigned.

Operates the vehicle in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and company standards for the fleet; ensures the vehicle is clean and safe. Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle using the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR); documents all issues on the DVIR for corrective action. Reports any unsafe conditions or service calls to the Route Manager or Dispatch prior to attempting service. Participates in all scheduled training sessions, briefings, and meetings as required by the Route Manager. Collaborates with Route Managers to enhance route efficiency and address problematic or unsafe accounts. Completes all duties as assigned by the Route Manager or Dispatch, assisting fellow drivers as needed. Informs the Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage. Notifies Dispatch or the Route Manager of issues as outlined by Service Machine protocols, including blocked containers, potential missed pickups, or other route-related problems. Communicates customer requests or concerns to Dispatch or the Route Manager. Ensures all containers are emptied and leaves the customer's location clean and free of debris. Completes and submits customer tickets when additional yardage must be collected. Positions containers on the customer's property to ensure lids are properly secured, containers are upright, and do not obstruct driveways or traffic. Follows daily route assignments and completes all required documentation upon check-in at the end of the route.

III. Supervisory Duties
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

IV. Qualifications

Education: No formal education required. Experience: None required.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada with a valid SIN. Possess a current DZ or Class 3 license or higher with an air-brake endorsement. A CDL is required; applicants must be at least 18 years old. Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check, including previous employment verification and motor vehicle record review. An acceptable driving record is mandatory.
