The Opportunity:

The Senior Maintenance Supervisor is a key leadership role that oversees the maintenance team and ensures the smooth operation of our facilities. This is a hands-on supervisory position that requires strong leadership and technical skills to drive excellence in maintenance and achieve world-class results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance supervisors and tradespeople to maximize facility uptime and daily production.
  • Supervise repairs carried out by maintenance staff and/or contractors.
  • Audit and review incoming work notifications and prioritize work as needed.
  • Assist in the development, approval, and implementation of capital projects.
  • Ensure effective use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Review and manage maintenance expenditures and oversee cost, scope, and timing of capital projects.
  • Ensure all scheduled work orders are completed within allocated time.
  • Review and audit completed work orders for correctness and completeness.
  • Perform periodic inspections of recently maintained equipment to observe quality of maintenance and operating condition.
  • Liaise with Engineering and Operations on equipment maintenance and availability.
  • Provide guidance to the Planner/Scheduler on approving, prioritizing, and estimating work, and technical assistance on developing job plans.
  • Participate in production meetings, KPI review meetings, and pre- and post-maintenance schedule review meetings.
  • Assist in identifying root causes of equipment failures and developing new maintenance tasks to eliminate them.
  • Support development of KPIs to manage Equipment Reliability Process.
  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with BRC and CFIA requirements for food safety and address corrective action requests effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable provincial and federal labor regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in health and safety, food safety, and environmental programs.

    Requirements:

    • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, unionized environment.
    • Familiarity with world-class maintenance and best practices.
    • Familiarity with Six Sigma, RCM, and autonomous maintenance principles.
    • College graduate from an electro-mechanical program or licensed tradesperson with related experience.
    • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance tactics.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours when required.
    • Comfortable using a CMMS, SAP-PM preferably.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and demonstrate organizational skills.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Experience in a food processing environment is an asset.
    • Knowledge of ammonia-based plant refrigeration systems and their operation is an asset.
    • Able to manage maintenance and maintenance resources effectively through KPIs and benchmarking.
    • Proven record of identifying reliability issues and implementing improvement strategies.
