Job Title: Compensation and Classification Specialist

The Compensation and Classification Specialist plays a critical role in the development, implementation, and administration of Langara College's compensation programs. This position works collaboratively with various stakeholders to provide expertise in wage and salary administration, job evaluation, performance management, and organizational redesign initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement compensation programs that align with the College's strategic objectives.
  • Provide expert advice on job evaluation and compensation plans, collective agreements, and College policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with HR teams to provide coordinated advisory services on compensation matters.
  • Ensure the consistent application of job evaluation and compensation plans.
  • Participate in leadership teams, special assignments, and projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is an asset.
  • Minimum five years of progressively senior human resources experience in compensation, classification, or job evaluation.
  • Considerable experience working with point factor job evaluation systems, organizational design, and compensation practices and related legislation.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment and labour legislation and government policies.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication, consultative, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent writing skills to effectively write job descriptions and rationale.
  • Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical reasoning skills, and judgment.
