Job Title: Program Director – Culinary Arts and Hospitality

Job Summary:

The Program Director provides academic leadership for a specific program or programs, reporting to the Chief Academic Officer. The incumbent must have a deep ownership of all aspects of their programs, exemplifying and communicating a strong vision of success to all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Academic Leadership:
    • Provide ongoing mentorship to students to ensure they perform to their potential.
    • Improve the student experience to create a culture of learning and excellence.
    • Promote positive relations between students and faculty.
    • Create and maintain student success strategies.
    • Manage student work, co-op placements, and certification information.
  2. Curriculum:
    • Provide annual program review and recommend changes for growth and renewal.
    • Align curriculum with Skilled Trades BC standards and acquire or maintain accreditation.
    • Ensure curriculum is relevant and pedagogically appropriate.
    • Monitor and maintain course materials.
  3. Operational:
    • Create an annual operating and capital departmental budget.
    • Monitor and maintain course supplies, equipment, and facilities.
    • Foster inter-departmental collaborations.
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Admissions to achieve enrolment success.
  4. Community Engagement:
    • Maintain an active Program Advisory Committee.
    • Maintain industry relationships and connections.
    • Conduct outreach to industry, alumni, and stakeholders.
    • Participate in BCCAT committee meetings and maintain articulations and pathways.
Requirements:
  • Advanced credentials in a discipline related to Culinary Arts and Hospitality.
  • Minimum of 3 years related and increasingly responsible experience in Academics or industry.
  • Advanced certifications or credits towards further study are highly preferred.
  • Advising and teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Fiscal and personnel management experience.
