About the Role:

As a Healthcare Support Specialist with Fraser Health, you will play a vital role in providing non-direct and non-clinical healthcare supports to patients, clients, families, and visitors in acute settings. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or another regulated healthcare professional, you will work as an integral member of a healthcare delivery team to provide exceptional care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish rapport with patients, clients, and families, and assist in promoting physical, emotional, cultural, social, and spiritual well-being.
  • Observe patients and clients, and their environments, to identify and report unsafe conditions, behavioral and/or physical changes to designated supervisor.
  • Assist with mealtime activities, set up and collect meal trays, and assist with limited food preparation.
  • Provide assistance in setting up supplies and equipment, assist with transporting patients, clients to designated areas, and provide support to patients, clients where required.
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning furniture and fixtures, emptying waste containers, tidying patient areas, and stripping and making beds.
  • Greet visitors and others in accordance with established safety, security, and infection control procedures and guidelines.
  • Check and restock supplies and carts in clinical areas and patient rooms.
  • Retrieve equipment/supplies for clinical staff as required and assist in taking inventory.
  • Complete and maintain related records electronically or using documents.

Requirements:

  • Grade 10, including successful completion of English 10 or equivalency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
