About the Role

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our maintenance department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the preventive maintenance and repair of our fleet, while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Planning and Scheduling: Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity, ensuring that all repairs are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate the performance of shop personnel, providing input into hiring, disciplinary action, terminations, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Conduct daily shop huddles and fleet walks to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards, and perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure compliance with Company safety and compliance procedures and federal/state regulations.
  • Inventory Management and Procurement: Plan and schedule repairs in M5 planner, procure all parts for successful plans, and maintain knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles.
  • Administrative and Reporting: Update and submit required reports in a timely manner, manage related administrative matters for the team, including payroll, employee records, and maintenance software.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication with other departments and leadership to ensure fluid and effective operations, and assist in preparation and submission of budget.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED, valid driver's license, three (3) or more years of heavy diesel truck maintenance experience, and one (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to supervise, coach, counsel, discipline, and train employees, excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
Work Environment

The Maintenance Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment, exposed to various weather conditions, and may be required to work long hours, including weekends and holidays. The position requires the ability to drive a pickup or heavy truck, equipped with a 5-7 speed manual shift transmission or automatic transmission, climbing in and out of the truck cab, and to work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, and hard hat.
