About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused Facility Operator to join our team at McAsphalt Industries Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our asphalt plant systems, ensuring the highest level of quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain plant automation systems, including dispatching duties and documentation of plant inventory transfers, production orders, and truck transfers.
  • Conduct inventory counts, including tank fluid levels, and ensure accurate records are maintained.
  • Off-load and load rail cars, trucks, totes, and pails, while adhering to safety protocols and standards.
  • Supervise the addition of additives to truck loads and ensure compliance with quality control procedures.
  • Participate in site clean-up activities, including emptying pails, spill cleanup, and cleaning equipment.
  • Assist with plant maintenance and improvement initiatives, including troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient and effective asphalt production processes.
  • Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service and interact positively with truck drivers and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in emergency situations, accidents, and spills, and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record, required to operate McAsphalt vehicles.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A reliable method of transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work under pressure, being responsible, resourceful, and autonomous.
  • Ability to work outdoors, at height, and in various environments.
  • Experience with pumps, piping, heat tracing, and hot oil heaters is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills in English, with a strong interpersonal attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong organizational skills.
