Job Title: Water Modelling Specialist

EnviroCareers is seeking a highly skilled Water Modelling Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our water stewardship practice, you will be responsible for developing and implementing water balance and water quality models for environmental assessments and water management planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop site-wide and catchment-scale water balance and water quality models using industry-standard software such as GoldSim.
  • Participate in the surface water components of resource projects, including baseline studies, effects assessments, and conceptual water management plans.
  • Prepare high-quality presentations and written technical reports to communicate modelling results to stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes to Canadian federal and provincial impact assessment legislation and practices related to water quality.
  • Support the delivery of multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule expectations.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 4 years of direct experience in water resources projects with a modelling component, preferably in the consulting industry or the natural resource sector.
  • Registered Professional (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo, P.Ag., P.Chem) or eligible for a professional designation.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering or natural sciences (earth or environmental science) from an accredited institution (Masters degree is an asset).
  • Demonstrated experience with industry-standard water balance and mass balance modelling software (i.e., GoldSim) for mining projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with modelling environmental processes that relate to the fate and transport of constituents of concern.
  • Data analysis and statistical techniques while working with large environmental datasets, and visualization.
  • Programming knowledge, including the development of code for water modelling applications or software.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience with other water resources modelling platforms (HEC-HMS, Raven, HEC-RAS), water quality, or geochemical modelling platforms (PHREEQC).
  • Experience with GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS, Global Mapper, QGIS).
  • Experience with 2D and 3D data visualization tools.
  • Direct experience working in the mining/resource sector.
  • Direct experience working on water quality management for natural resource projects.
