About the Role

Douglas College Athletics is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Head Athletic Therapist. This is a full-time, contract role that requires a strong background in athletic therapy and a passion for delivering exceptional care to student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sports medical and physical wellness program for the Royals varsity sports teams, including injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Provide athletic therapy services, including attendance at team practices and competitions, and conduct pre-season physical wellness and sport-specific assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Strength and Conditioning Coach and Athletics staff to ensure the physical wellness and safety of student-athletes.
  • Develop and maintain injury data information, and provide historical information on student-athletes.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of student-athlete health and medical information, and schedule student-athlete treatment and/or other interventions as necessary.
  • Support the coordination and scheduling of physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes.
  • Develop and maintain the Student Athletic Trainer (Student ATs) mentor program, including onboarding, training, monitoring, and providing direction.
  • Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment to enhance the benefit of the athletic therapy program.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Athletic Therapy, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Maintain all professional certifications, including Canadian Athletic Therapist Association (CATA) and First Aid/CPR.
  • Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record Check.
  • NCCP Safe Sport Certified.
