As a Financial Controls Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the precision, dependability, and regulatory compliance of the Group's financial systems, processes, and reports.

Key responsibilities
  • Define, implement, test, maintain, and support processes and appropriate controls for financial transactions.
  • Identify potential risks and control weaknesses, recommending suitable actions to mitigate these risks.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of account reconciliations for the Group Finance and Controls Division.
  • Conduct regular detailed reviews of complex reconciliations for all Group accounts, resolving financial discrepancies and errors.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and technical liaison for Administrative Service Only (ASO) products, developing controls/processes for new or modified ASO arrangements.
  • Manage ASO month-end balancing and reconciliation processes effectively.
  • Verify and rectify journal entries, ledger balances, and other financial data, coordinating with other business units as necessary.
  • Compile data from various sources to support the month-end close process, including accruals, adjustments, and month-end analysis for various accounts.
  • Monitor, review, analyze, and reconcile GL accounts to ensure accuracy, proactively identifying and reporting variances.
  • Assist in designing and implementing controls for new product lines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary data and documentation.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in financial controls.
  • Work with other Finance team members to continuously enhance and automate team processes and templates.
  • Engage in ad-hoc tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, ASA) or progress towards a designation is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, auditing, or financial controls.
  • Familiarity with group benefit contracts and products.
  • Experience in general ledger and transactional accounting is beneficial.
  • Strong proficiency in spreadsheet and database software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and Access.
  • For positions open to applicants across Canada, proficiency in English is required for effective communication with customers, advisors, or employees nationwide.
