About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Power System Engineer to join our Energy team at FNX-INNOV. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex power system simulations using CYMDIST software to analyze power flows, voltage stability, transient stability, fault contribution, and protection coordination.
  • Validate generator application documentation and determine the impact of renewable generation under various loading conditions using CYMDIST software.
  • Develop and maintain detailed station and distribution system models, including transformer data, feeder arrangements, conductor sizes, impedances, bus and feeder protections, and generator data.
  • Prepare estimates, implementation schedules, and review and certify Form B documents, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide final reports summarizing project timelines, power quality, system adequacy, system reliability, system compatibility, and compliant work execution.
  • Perform grounding studies and prepare related reports, including protection coordination studies, short circuit calculations, relay settings, CT saturation checks, AC/DC load studies, and more.
  • Design and implement protection and control systems for generators, network upgrades, and metering requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on engineering packages and documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the preparation of estimates and proposals for bids prepared by the Energy department.
  • Provide customer support and problem resolution for associated projects, products, processes, and quality systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant distribution planning and analysis experience, either with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company.
  • Experience with generator connection impact assessment and ability to perform power system load flow, load allocation, fault analysis, short circuit studies, voltage sag, load balancing, capacitor placement and sizing, motor rating, batch analysis, and more.
  • Experience with distribution planning, distributed energy resource (DER) interconnection impact, arc flash, microgrid analysis, and protection coordination.
  • Proficiency in ETAP, PSS/E, EMTP, ASPEN OneLiner, Siemens CAPE, or PSCAD software.
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is highly preferred.
