Job Title: Power System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Power System Engineer to join our team at the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). As a key member of our Market and System Operations group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of Ontario's electricity grid.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain complex power system models to support real-time operations and planning functions.
  • Lead the development of base cases for Ontario and regional reliability studies.
  • Establish recommended approaches for efficient and innovative means to maintain and support contingency analysis software.
  • Specify and review the results of tests to confirm that facilities satisfy performance requirements.
  • Support IESO security, adequacy, and operability obligations.
  • Participate in task forces and committees on matters related to power system operation.
  • Supply consultative services to other departments and/or business units.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other members of the group.
Requirements:
  • Advanced engineering knowledge of electrical theory, power system analysis, and control.
  • Knowledge of technical writing to prepare effective reports.
  • Licence to engage in the practice of professional engineering in Ontario.
  • Significant exposure to power system operation through progressive training and experience.
