POSITION OVERVIEW

The Journeyman Plumber - Mobile is a qualified professional holding a valid Certificate of Qualification from the relevant province. This role involves managing facility systems, executing preventive and corrective maintenance, and conducting routine services on mechanical and electrical equipment within the assigned facilities, adhering to company policies and trade certifications. The Journeyman Plumber - Mobile is also tasked with ensuring compliance with established procedures and regulations, including environmental, health and safety, security, and fire protection standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation & Troubleshooting

  • Assess piping system needs and determine appropriate pipe sizes.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to meet specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to design plumbing layouts for residential and commercial properties.
  • Create openings in walls or floors for pipe installation.
  • Install, replace, and repair valves, pumps, and other components of plumbing systems.
  • Conduct tests on pipes to identify leaks and other issues.

Maintenance Duties

  • Execute tasks in accordance with established procedures and practices.
  • Adhere to all internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards.
  • Respond to service requests and perform preventive and corrective maintenance at assigned facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plumbing systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety standards are met.
  • Follow health and safety protocols and comply with building codes.
  • Assist in implementing preventive maintenance programs, ensuring deficiencies are documented and addressed.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment, arranging for repairs and replacements as necessary.

Client Interaction

  • Provide insights regarding facility conditions and recommend improvements and repairs.
  • Participate in facility-related projects as needed.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Engage in facility-related projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and legislative requirements related to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements as necessary.
  • Submit expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • College Diploma/Certification is mandatory.
  • Proven experience as a licensed Plumber is essential.
  • Strong adherence to processes and practices related to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of fire, life safety, and building codes, with the ability to research and apply relevant standards.
  • A strong commitment to environmental, health, and safety practices.
  • Client-focused mindset with a sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for data exchange and clarification.
  • Mentoring capabilities to support the development of junior technicians.
  • Willingness to work shifts and be available for on-call and emergency situations.
  • Must be willing to use Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must meet enhanced security clearance standards.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Licenses and Professional Accreditation - Mandatory

  • A valid Journeyman Plumbing license issued by the relevant province is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progress towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1 certification.
  • Facilities Technician Certification from an accredited institution.
  • Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) certification.
