Job Title: Senior Forest Technician - Timber Administration

Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the Senior Forest Technician - Timber Administration position in Swan River.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and evaluating timber administration, timber tracking, and timber management projects in the region. This includes leading a team of technicians, supervising timber harvesting, and ensuring appropriate practices are employed.

The Senior Forest Technician will also provide liaison and technical support on all aspects of the Forest Act and other associated legislation for enforcement. Additionally, they will assist the Forester in developing budget estimates for program delivery and administration of allocated financial resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and evaluate timber administration, timber tracking, and timber management projects
  • Lead a team of technicians and supervise timber harvesting
  • Provide liaison and technical support on the Forest Act and other legislation
  • Assist in developing budget estimates and administering financial resources
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, performing, supervising, and inspecting timber operations
  • Experience in mapping and aerial photo interpretation, including ArcGIS and GPS applications
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions:
  • Must be physically capable of performing duties in challenging outdoor weather conditions
  • Must be able to travel to remote locations within the Province of Manitoba for extended periods
