Orthoptist - Eye Care Specialist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our team. As an Orthoptist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and management of disorders of eye movements and associated visual dysfunctions.
You will perform a series of highly specialized investigative procedures to document and diagnose eye movement disorders. Your expertise will be essential in interpreting diagnostic data and making recommendations to referring ophthalmologists regarding treatment options.
Responsibilities will include follow-up of patients undergoing orthoptic treatment, successive evaluation, and conferencing with ophthalmologists regarding surgical and/or medical treatment. You will also counsel patients regarding ocular diagnoses, treatment plans, and outcome expectations.
About YouWe are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Orthoptist with a strong background in clinical vision science. You will have a Baccalaureate degree plus two year training program, or Master's degree in clinical vision science. Certification by the Canadian Orthoptic Council and JCAHPO certification at the technologist level are also required.
Previous orthoptic technologist experience is preferred, and you will possess excellent organizational, time management, stress management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
HoursThis is a permanent part-time position, working 80% FTE, 60 hours biweekly.
Compensation and IncentivesThe successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $34.68 - $43.80. They may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
