Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor for Adult Fitness, Wellness & Inclusion Services, the role involves overseeing the safe and effective use of the weight room and multi-training areas.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cultivates an understanding of safe and proper equipment usage in the weight room and multi-training areas.
  • Offers basic guidance on equipment operation, training principles, and safety protocols.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and cleanliness regulations among patrons.
  • Conducts orientations for the weight room and multi-training areas, as well as facility tours.
  • Maintains records of equipment maintenance and inventory, reporting as necessary.
  • Communicates participant feedback, suggestions, and concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Adheres to the daily schedule as outlined.
  • Participates in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Monitors multi-training areas, track, weight room, courts, and fitness program room, providing general supervision.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess knowledge and practical experience in weight training.
  • Preferred candidates will have completed a recognized weight training course.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) is required.
  • Must obtain Standard First Aid CPR-C certification within three months of employment.
  • Must demonstrate competency as defined by the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Must complete WHMIS training.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Part-time position (not exceeding 24 hours per week).
  • Irregular hours (Monday to Sunday).
