Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to serve as the Co-Presidents of the Indigenous Studies Department Student Council. As a Co-President, you will play a key role in advocating for the interests of students in the Indigenous Studies department and leading the planning and execution of events tailored to their specific needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Departmental Advocacy: Advocate for the interests of students in the Indigenous Studies department, ensuring their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed.
  • Event Planning and Execution: Organize, promote, and execute academic and social events for the department, fostering a sense of community and engagement among students.
  • Faculty Board Representation: Prepare for and attend every Arts and Science Faculty Board meeting, staying informed about departmental developments and initiatives.
  • USAT Evaluations: Coordinate the administration of USAT evaluations, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Strategic Planning: Submit a budget, strategic plan, and constitution to the Academics Commissioner, outlining your vision for the department.
  • DSC Assembly Participation: Participate in DSC Assembly meetings, staying informed about university-wide initiatives and policies.
  • Commissioner Meetings: Attend monthly meetings with the Academics Commissioner or Deputy Academics Commissioner, ensuring open communication and collaboration.
  • DSC Charter Compliance: Follow all provisions in the DSC Charter, upholding the highest standards of leadership and governance.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of the Indigenous Studies department and its needs.
