Head of Educational Services

This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the educational services within the school board.
ROLE OVERVIEWThe Director of Educational Services, reporting to the Director General, is accountable for all programs and initiatives related to the educational services offered by the schools. This role includes the management of the implementation of the provincial education curriculum and the assessment of student performance. Furthermore, the Director plays a crucial role in providing guidance and expertise to the Director General and other administrative personnel to ensure effective management of educational services across the board.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Supervise the provision of educational services across all schools;
- Ensure the effective execution of the School organization initiatives associated with various Board services (such as policy development, student enrollment, groupings, zoning, finance, etc.);
- Oversee school organization and planning for language instruction;
- Manage all IT-related aspects for the School Board, schools, and centers;
- Collaborate with various departments and engage in strategic planning with complementary services, schools, adult education, and vocational training to enhance student success;
- Support schools in the development and use of educational materials and tools, including technology, necessary for student pedagogical support;
- Oversee the Certification of Studies and related academic sanctions;
- Manage the development and administration of programs, curriculum, assessment of student learning, and allocated resources;
- Ensure the creation and execution of school success plans, action plans, and educational projects;
- Facilitate the development and implementation of local evaluation frameworks and academic progress regulations;
- Assist in the formulation and revision of board policies and by-laws, ensuring their enforcement;
- Participate in the allocation of teaching staff and student populations among the board's schools;
- Prepare, manage, and oversee budget-related matters;
- Supervise specific strands of the Commitment to Success Plan as directed by the Director General;
- Engage in board-level and parity committees as assigned by the Director General;
- Oversee student registration processes;
- Manage eligibility for English Language Instruction;
- Organize and supervise school daycare operations;
- Oversee the administration of Summer School programs;
- Provide direct assistance to school administrators in educational matters;
- Support school administrators in addressing parental inquiries;
- Undertake any additional responsibilities compatible with the role as assigned by the Director General.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field, certifying completion of a minimum three-year university program, or hold a senior executive position within a school board requiring such a degree;
- Permanent teaching certification for Québec (Brevet required);
- A minimum of eight years of relevant experience in educational administration.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Exceptional communication skills in both English and French;
- Proven pedagogical leadership in an administrative capacity;
- In-depth knowledge of the Quebec Education Program, the Education Act, and Basic School Regulations;
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively;
- Strong team-building and conflict resolution capabilities;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Innovative, results-oriented management approach.
COMPENSATION AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Compensation and working conditions are aligned with the regulations governing the employment conditions of management staff within school boards, classified at Class 9, with a salary range based on experience and qualifications.
