Job Title: Policy Analyst

We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Policy Analyst in the Provincial-Territorial (PT) Immigration Secretariat.

About the Role

The PT Immigration Secretariat facilitates collaboration between provincial-territorial ministries responsible for immigration, and supports the Forum of Ministers Responsible for Immigration (FMRI) to jointly develop strategic objectives for immigration policies and programs within Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide policy analysis, research, and advice on intergovernmental immigration issues;
  • Support briefings and meetings of immigration Ministers/Deputy Ministers/Assistant Deputy Ministers and Senior Officials and working groups by arranging agendas, background, and meeting materials and written summaries;
  • Collaborate with Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FTP) Government staff to assist in consensus-building and the advancement of broader PT views on immigration;
  • Draft annual reports, work plans, and conduct governance reviews as needed.
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • The ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues across Canada;
  • The ability to exercise diplomacy as you assess complex information and provide advice on sensitive issues;
  • Being proactive, using your education and experience to identify and analyze key immigration trends and their implications for jurisdictions across Canada;
  • The ability to manage projects and committees to ensure that quality deliverables are completed on time;
  • Experience with intergovernmental working groups and/or negotiations which is an asset for this position.
Education and Experience

Typically, the skills and knowledge for this position will have been gained through the completion of a post-secondary education in public policy, public administration, political science, business administration, or a related field, along with relevant work experience.
