Job Description
BMO is actively seeking a Solutions Architect for a contract engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proficiency in web services (SOAP and REST), messaging systems (Kafka, MQ, or similar tools), and API experience is essential. Banking experience is preferred but not mandatory; candidates can come from either enterprise or solutions architect backgrounds.
- Engagement with the Treasury and Payment Solutions team (commercial banking) focusing on the OLBB (Online Banking for Business) application, catering to a diverse clientele from small businesses to large corporations.
- Involvement in two primary phases:
- Intake Phase: Collaborating with business partners to gather new information for potential projects, including product enhancements or new offerings. Consultants visualize project concepts and, upon securing buy-in from business partners, obtain high-level estimates from relevant technical teams.
- Business Evaluation: If a viable business case emerges, the Solutions Architect documents the proposed project and presents it to both business and technical stakeholders within the organization. This includes sharing the business case with Enterprise Architects and business partners to assess technical feasibility and return on investment (ROI).
- Seeking candidates with 2-5 years of experience in either solutions architect or enterprise architect roles; this team does not handle development tasks.
- Experience in the financial or banking sector is strongly preferred, although candidates from the telecommunications industry will also be considered.
- Experience in proposing solutions for APIs is advantageous, as the team is developing an API developer portal.
- Familiarity with Single Sign-On (SSO) and web services (SOAP/REST) is required.
- Experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka, MQ, or others is necessary.
- General knowledge of security implementation is expected.
- Familiarity with major cloud providers, specifically AWS and Azure, is a plus.
- Candidates with backgrounds as Technical/Delivery Leads may not be suitable, as this team delegates most technical responsibilities to other Tech Leads.
- Currently operating in a work-from-home model, transitioning to a hybrid approach; candidates must be local but can work from any BMO office.
Qualifications:
- Solutions or Enterprise Architect: 5 years (Required)
- Web Services (SOAP, REST): 5 years (Required)
- APIs: 5 years (Required)
- Messaging Systems (Kafka, MQ, or others): 5 years (Required)
- Banking/Financial Industry: 5 years (Desired)
Education/Certifications:
University Degree in a relevant field.
