Prevention Specialist

Job Summary
The Preventionist will play a crucial role in supporting managers and workers in identifying, correcting, and controlling environmental risks in the workplace. This position involves conducting audits, investigations, and risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
- Conduct OHS audits in the distribution center to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures.
- Evaluate risks present in the environment using a risk matrix to prioritize corrective actions.
- Coach and support supervisors in incident/accident investigations and the implementation of corrective measures.
- Verify compliance with OHS rules and procedures and communicate any deficiencies to key stakeholders.
- Act as an awareness agent and intervene when necessary to promote a safe working environment.
- Produce OHS statistical reports to analyze risks and recommend prevention programs.
- Participate in health and safety committee meetings and contribute to the development of the lockout program, work at height, and confined space procedures.
- Communicate information on work safety and accident prevention to employee groups.
Requirements
- Occupational health and safety certificate or technique.
- 3 to 5 years' experience in a similar position.
- Flexible and available to work outside of regular business hours.
- Ability to work in a context of continuous improvement and change.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
- Organizational skills, rigor, and autonomy.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements
- Ability to follow policies and procedures.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Ability to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
- Ability to sit, walk, or stand for up to 10 hours per day.
- Ability to intermittently crawl, squat, climb, twist, bend, stoop, push, or pull.
- Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to lift/carry items less than 50 pounds.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education/training, and a candidate's work experience. Pay Range: 19.16 (Min) - 32.97 (Max) Hourly
