The Food Services Worker II is responsible for a variety of tasks that encompass the exchange of payments for items sold, food preparation, cooking, and assembly, as well as providing exceptional customer service. This role is crucial in assisting patrons with inquiries or concerns, ensuring a smooth experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately processes and prepares food and beverage orders, utilizing a cash register and verifying customer requests. Responsible for cleaning, food preparation, assembly, restocking, and maintaining cleanliness in the retail service area.
  • Manages cash transactions, counts cash, and prepares cashier reports as needed.
  • Engages in the preparation and service of food and beverages to customers. Responsible for setting up operations and delivering catering orders as assigned.
  • Unpacks and organizes grocery and produce deliveries; rotates stock and stores food according to safety and quality standards.
  • Adheres to established recipes and standards for food and beverage preparation, documenting supply needs as necessary.
  • Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of all surfaces, including tables, countertops, and food service equipment.
  • Responsible for waste management, including the proper disposal of organic waste.
  • Conducts general cleaning duties, including maintaining cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
  • Safely transports food items between workstations, stoves, and refrigerators.
  • Communicates with management regarding low inventory levels of retail products.
  • Follows approved recipes and production standards to maintain quality and safety of food items.
  • Performs additional related tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 10 plus one (1) year of recent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. Certification in Food Safe Level 1 is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with others.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Organizational skills to manage work effectively.
  • Proficiency in operating relevant equipment.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding in accordance with TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • Knowledge of the socio-economic and cultural dynamics affecting Indigenous communities is considered an asset.
