Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Underwriter to join our growing team in Atlantic Canada. This is a remote opportunity that requires a strong understanding of commercial underwriting principles and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform risk analysis using internal and external data resources to quote, negotiate, and authorize policy renewals of moderate complexity.
  • Handle endorsement requests within delegated authority, engaging with brokers to clarify intent and seek missing information.
  • Develop and maintain professional business partnerships with brokers, providing prompt service and responding to inquiries in a solution-oriented manner.
  • Communicate decisions and respond to requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external parties, including attending industry-related seminars and networking events as necessary.
  • Negotiate coverage with brokers within delegated authority parameters.
  • Manage, strengthen, and grow a book of profitable business.
  • Maintain compliance with established corporate guidelines and delegated authority parameters.
  • Work independently to meet deadlines and accomplish goals.
Requirements
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in commercial underwriting or commercial brokering.
  • Actively working towards an insurance designation (CIP or CAIP preferred).
  • Hold a broker license (Level 2).
  • Technical competency with office equipment, including printers, scanners, and Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
