Key Responsibilities

As a Residential Counsellor, your tasks will include:

  • Preparing reports and case histories
  • Conducting administrative and office tasks
  • Assessing clients' needs for specific services

  • Performing follow-up assessments
  • Managing housekeeping duties
  • Preparing meals
  • Providing crisis intervention and support
  • Resolving conflicts
  • Supervising clients in group homes
  • Leading individual and group counselling sessions
  • Coordinating with other service agencies
  • Maintaining program statistics for evaluation
  • Assisting clients with special needs
  • Accompanying clients to appointments and outings
Certifications and Training

Candidates should have the following certifications:

  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
