Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Registered Nurse

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to become part of the General Surgery team. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care.

As a Registered Nurse at VCH, your responsibilities will include:

Delivering nursing care to assigned patients/clients both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Conducting assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Engaging in discharge planning, advocating for clients, and educating patients and their families on health and wellness. Enhancing the quality of life for clients and their families. Documenting care provided and managing incidents in line with established protocols. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Advancing your clinical skills and knowledge. Participating in hospital committees and approved research initiatives as required.

Relocation Assistance and Staff Housing may be available. Additionally, nurses may qualify for student loan forgiveness for British Columbia student loans.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Skills & Competencies

Proven nursing practice skills related to the designated patient group. Ability to develop and execute care plans effectively. Capacity to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, solve problems, prioritize tasks, and manage conflicts. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work effectively with others, demonstrating collaboration within a team environment. Competence in counseling and educating clients and their families. Leadership qualities through initiative and independence. Proficiency in clinical techniques and the use of relevant medical equipment. Capability in CPR techniques. Ability to operate related equipment, including computerized client care systems. Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the position.

Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and the Collective Agreement.

As per current Public Health Orders, all employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received a single dose of the most recent vaccine. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
