About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist (Donor Care Associate) to join our dynamic Donor Centre team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the collection of donor blood in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors, ensuring a positive and comfortable experience.
  • Monitor donors for safety and comfort, providing post-donation care and respecting donor privacy.
  • Ensure safe processing and handling of blood products, adhering to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to collect whole blood and apheresis blood components, which save lives daily.
  • Assist in setting up booths, tables, and equipment for mobile events within our communities.
Requirements
  • Completion of high school.
  • Accredited training program in phlebotomy or one year of related experience.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems and programs.
  • Previous knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook is an asset.
  • A second language is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.

What to Expect
  • Shifts and hours will vary, requiring flexibility to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs.
  • Travel will be required for mobile events in our communities, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs.).
