About the Role
Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Temporary part-time Phlebotomist (Donor Care Associate) to become a vital part of our dedicated Donor Centre team.
The Donor Centre team plays a crucial role in supporting Canadian Blood Services by safely collecting donor blood, which is essential for producing life-saving products. In this position, you will conduct phlebotomy in accordance with established health and safety protocols. You will interact directly with donors, team members, and volunteers, ensuring a safe and high-quality experience throughout the collection process.
Key Responsibilities- Utilizing your exceptional interpersonal skills, you will perform registration and confidential screening to assess donor eligibility while fostering a positive donor experience.
- Employing your outstanding customer service abilities, you will monitor donors for their safety and comfort, provide post-donation care, and maintain donor privacy.
- Applying your knowledge of procedures, you will ensure the safe processing and handling of blood products.
- With your strong teamwork skills, you will assist in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components that contribute to saving lives.
- At community mobile events, you will help set up booths, tables, and necessary equipment to ensure donor clinics are properly prepared.
- Completion of high school education.
- Completion of an accredited training program in phlebotomy or one year of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Outlook is advantageous.
- Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset to enhance the donor experience.
- Payment in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays.
- Premiums paid in accordance with the collective agreement.

- Shifts and hours will vary. Flexibility is required to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs; shift lengths will vary according to events at Canadian Blood Services' fixed and mobile donor centers.
- Travel will be necessary for mobile events in our communities, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services.
- Physical requirements for the role include the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs).
