Your ResponsibilitiesThe Player Expression team for Fortnite is tasked with providing players with a remarkable variety of appearances and styles to express their individuality and interests. We seek a Lead Programmer who is enthusiastic about game development and team leadership. You will guide a group of exceptionally skilled engineers, pushing the boundaries of customization and player choice throughout the Fortnite ecosystem - encompassing characters, vehicles, and entirely new experiences.
In this position, you will- Oversee a team of 5+ engineers focused on gameplay-related systems that drive cosmetic customization and player expression.
- Enhance your team through mentorship, removing obstacles, conducting code reviews, and promoting a positive, learning-oriented environment.
- Collaborate closely with production and technical leadership to balance the introduction of new features with long-term sustainability.
- Establish connections with related teams, including art, performance, animation technology, and automation.
- Champion the player experience, maintaining and enriching the library of cosmetics available to players.
- Prior experience and a strong desire to lead and develop a team of developers.
- Proficient in C++ and knowledgeable in programming principles.
- A genuine passion for games with a focus on visual yet gameplay-related areas.
- Ability to create robust, extensible, and maintainable systems.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate fluently in English (both written and verbal).
- Experience with Unreal Engine is preferred but not mandatory.
