Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at The Dirt Merchant Ltd.

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, and graders to perform various tasks such as excavation, grading, and hauling materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of heavy equipment maintenance and operation, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, and graders to perform various tasks
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
  • Secure special attachments to equipment
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment
  • Train or assist in the training of other workers
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on equipment
Requirements:
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  • Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
  • Driver's License (Class 3 or D)
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate
  • Ground Disturbance - Level II program
Work Environment:

The Heavy Equipment Operator will work in a variety of outdoor environments, including construction sites, mines, and other industrial settings. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to changing weather conditions.
