Medical Laboratory Assistant

Shared Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the laboratory in its role of sample triaging, accessioning, and processing of specimens. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and maintain standards put forth by Accreditation.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the processing of specimens, including phlebotomies, according to departmental policy.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, as required.
- Perform basic routine procedures according to established protocols.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective specimen processing.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
- Completed Grade 12 or equivalent, Manitoba Standards, is required.
- Previous related experience is preferred.
- Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification is preferred.
The successful candidate will work in a laboratory environment, with regular exposure to chemicals, biological agents, and other hazardous materials. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
