Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced researcher to join our team as a Visiting Scholar. As a Visiting Scholar, you will have the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in autonomous robotics and AI, working closely with our team of experts to explore new technologies and applications.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct direct R&D in your area of interest, including navigation, planning, perception, mapping, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AI.
- Collaborate with our team to develop and deploy software for physical robots, leveraging your expertise in C++, Python, and other relevant languages.
- Work with academic institutions to advance our research and development efforts, including technology transfer, dataset development, and joint publications.
- Represent OTTO Motors as a technology leader in your area of interest, including patents, publications, open-source contributions, and public presentations.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in autonomous robotics and AI, and communicate your findings to our team and the broader research community.
- PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
- Substantial experience in R&D, including postdoctoral research, professorship, or equivalent.
- Broad familiarity with navigation, planning, perception, mapping, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AI, as well as key hardware technologies and modalities.
- Specific expertise in one or more of the above fields, with multiple papers published in notable journals or conferences.
- Familiarity with software development and testing methodologies and tools.
- Experience presenting and representing your work or organization in public.
- Hands-on experience with developing and deploying software for physical robots.
- Strong experience with C++, Python, and ideally more languages (Lua, Rust, etc).
- Strong experience with key libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Ceres, or OMPL.
- Reasonable experience with ROS1, ROS 2, Gazebo, CUDA, and ideally more frameworks.
- Highly proficient with experimental analysis and benchmarking.
