Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at the University of Waterloo. As a key member of our Ecohydrology Research Group, you will play a critical role in the coordination and execution of research projects, providing specialized expertise in biogeochemical research.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and oversee field and laboratory research projects, ensuring adherence to quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Provide methodological and technical support to lab members, including advising on methods and procedures, providing information and expertise, and assisting with equipment and supplies acquisition.
- Develop and implement operating protocols for field and laboratory instruments and experimental equipment, ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Coordinate field sampling activities, including contacting project partners, coordinating field site access and equipment installation, and managing field sample analyses and data collection.
- Supervise co-op students and undergraduate research assistants, providing guidance and support in their research projects.
- MSc degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
- Practical knowledge of a wide range of analytical techniques, including sample collection, handling, and preparation.
- 4+ years of experience performing field and laboratory research, including operation of state-of-the-art analytical technologies.
- Demonstrated experience co-authoring journal articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
