Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration B Operator to join our team at our Ice Cream Manufacturing factory in Simcoe, Ontario. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our plant's refrigeration and heating systems, ensuring the smooth production of our world-renowned brands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the ammonia refrigeration system in accordance with TSSA regulations, ensuring compliance and safety.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and provide routine maintenance support for non-refrigerated building mechanical devices.
  • Diagnose and investigate machinery and equipment irregularities, collaborating with supervisors to resolve issues.
  • Review work orders and discuss tasks with supervisors to ensure efficient completion.
  • Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance services to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
  • Document work performed and communicate with supervisors, managers, and equipment operators as needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations and support the operations of the building's fire suppression system.
  • Repair and maintain compressors, air dryers, boilers, condensers, and water softener systems as required.
  • Perform plumbing tasks, including repairing leaks and installing new lines.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and valid Refrigeration "B" (or A) ticket, in good standing with the TSSA.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and demonstrate knowledge of GMP, HACCP, BRC, FSSC, and proper employee hygiene practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working in hot and/or cold environments.
  • Experience inspecting equipment, structures, or material to identify errors or defects.
  • Electrically inclined troubleshooting skills with VFDs and PLCs are an asset.
  • Experience working in the food industry and with packaging equipment is a strong asset.
  • 3rd class operating engineer or millwright experience is a strong asset.
  • Ability to work across shifts, including weekends.
