Job Summary:
Pro Vita Care Management Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Manager to join our team at AgeCare Malaspina Care Residence in Nanaimo. As a Recreation Manager, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of Person and Family-Centred Care (PFCC) by designing, implementing, and reviewing recreation programs that cater to the needs of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day work of the Recreation Team, ensuring that all programs and activities are delivered in a safe and effective manner.
- Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being among residents.
- Manage the Recreation departmental budget, purchasing and inventorying supplies and equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify and respond to residents', employees', and volunteers' needs.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate Recreation Aides to ensure they are equipped to deliver high-quality programs and services.
Requirements:
- Post-Secondary degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of recreation and health care practices and techniques as they relate to long-term care.
- Minimum of 5 years recent experience in gerontology, with 3 years management experience.
- CPR & First Aid Certification.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written.
- Organized, dependable, and flexible, with a positive attitude.
- Strong skills in decision-making, problem-solving, and communicating with various stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eligible for membership in BC Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA).
- Previous experience working with volunteers and the public in some capacity.
- Basic to intermediate level computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Holds and maintains a Valid Class 4 BC driver's license.
