Senior Climate Change Engineer

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Senior Climate Change Engineer to join our team in the Climate Regulation and Carbon Markets Branch. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the implementation of Alberta's greenhouse gas regulatory system, the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction Regulation (TIER).
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of verification and internal assurance processes under TIER, including internal compliance review processes using coding and automation tools.
- Lead the update, development, and implementation of quantification methodologies and other standards under TIER.
- Provide senior technical support and mentorship to team members regarding regulated facilities under TIER.
- Provide policy analysis and support related to Alberta's industrial carbon pricing system.
- University graduate with a bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably chemical, mechanical, environmental).
- Minimum of 10 years of related technical experience.
- Experience with TIER and/or other industrial carbon pricing systems.
- Technical understanding of Alberta industrial sectors as regulated under TIER.
- Organizational and management skills to manage multiple projects.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineering or technical staff.
- Preferable engineering disciplines include chemical, mechanical, and environmental.
- Masters or PhD in engineering.
- Experience with Python and data analysis tools such as Pandas and Jupyter Notebooks.
