Opportunity Overview:

In collaboration with the Addiction & Mental Health Inpatient Management at Alberta Health Services, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) employs adult learning principles to assess, design, implement, and evaluate the educational and developmental requirements of nursing staff within the Addiction & Mental Health program. The CNE is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and supporting the rollout of educational initiatives, including orientation, mandatory training, and ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote clinical proficiency among staff by adapting to changes in policies, procedures, protocols, and technological advancements.
  • Focus on the specific needs of the Adult Mental Health department while considering the broader objectives of the program and the organization.
  • Create and update educational materials and documents, fostering connections with colleagues both locally and regionally.
  • Collaborate effectively in committees associated with the program, hospital, and regional initiatives.
  • Work alongside other educators within the Addiction & Mental Health program to provide comprehensive support to all staff, including those in emergency mental health, consultation liaison, neuromodulation, and Adult Acute Mental Health areas.

Role Expectations:

As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will be a knowledgeable practitioner and pivotal educator. You will take a leading role in the planning, coordination, execution, and assessment of educational programs for nursing personnel, encompassing orientation, mandatory training, and clinical skill enhancement. Your collaboration with management and internal stakeholders will be essential in upholding standards of clinical, educational, and evidence-based practices. Your contributions will be vital in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care, aligning with the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.

Required Qualifications:

- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator is advantageous.
- Familiarity with CoACT and Connect Care systems is beneficial.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Addiction & Mental Health and medical acute care settings.
